Professional Development Plan
Create a Professional Development Plan
What is a Professional Development Plan?
Are you ready to take the next stride in your career? Perhaps you fancy a career change? Or you feel ready to explore new opportunities and don't know where to start.
We have a tool that will help you to focus, plan and take action! Racing now has its very own Professional Development Plan (PDP).
A PDP is a written document that will allow you to reflect on the skills and knowledge you already have and use in your current role and to plan ahead. It will guide you through a number of questions to help:
- Explore your strengths and weaknesses
- Discover your desired career path
- Plan the next steps in reaching your career goals
Who is it for?
The PDP has been designed for anyone who works in the thoroughbred racing and breeding industries. There are no unimportant roles in racing and every job requires vital skills which contribute towards the thrilling spectacle we all love. No matter what your role is, this plan can be used by you.
Five reasons a PDP is important
How can it be used?
The Professional Development Plan can be used from the start of, and throughout, your career in racing. It is a self-help tool for you to use independently, or during a PDP coaching session, where you will complete the PDP with support from a CATS Advisor.
How do I get started?
You can download your own Professional Development Plan here or you can arrange to speak to a CATS advisor to arrange a PDP coaching session on 0800 6300 443.
A CATS telephone session will be arranged for a day and time to suit you. You will speak with a trained advisor who will assist you with the next steps in your racing career by working alongside you to: answer any questions you might have, assess your current situation, explore the options available to you and offer further support based on your career and / or training needs.
