Racing Welfare COVID-19 Hardship Grants

Racing Welfare Covid-19 grants are designed to help you if you are in need of immediate financial assistance due to the outbreak. We are offering a streamlined application process for the provision of Covid-19 hardship grants for anyone working in the British horseracing and breeding industry.

The new application process has been designed to make obtaining a hardship grant as simple and efficient as possible. The grants have been calculated into fortnightly amounts for a single applicant (£150) and that of a family (£210). The payments are intended to cover your immediate basic needs, such as food, electricity and heating. You will be eligible for a grant if you have encountered financial hardship as a result of the Covid-19 situation.

Before a grant application is processed, our welfare team will conduct a needs-based assessment, including supporting people to claim any benefits and other statutory entitlements. Racing Welfare’s existing grant application process remains in place to provide additional financial assistance if required.

If you are in need of support you should contact Racing Welfare directly; the charity’s regional office numbers are manned from 9am – 5pm, Monday-Friday and are as follows:

All applications for grant funding will be subject to a means test. A means test is a way of checking if you have enough financial resources to support yourself. You will be asked to provide evidence of financial need.

If you need financial assistance and would like to apply for a grant from Racing Welfare then please contact us here and we can arrange for a welfare officer to assist you.

Please note that when a grant application is successful the funding will be paid directly to the service provider or supplier.

There are many other charitable trusts and foundations that are set up to help people in need with grants and financial assistance. They are usually set up for people with a common need and many may be associated with specific industries like Racing Welfare.  To check if you are eligible to apply to any other charitable trusts of foundations then go to Turn2Us.
